1132 - and counting !!
"Give a Hug and Get a Hug"
Since 2005 Covington Quilters Guild members have sewn and provided
homemade quilts (hugs) to the following children's organizations:
Mary Bridge Children’s Oncology Department - Tacoma, WA.:
Children, ages 1 to 18, receiving chemo treatments. These are truly a security quilt used during chemo.
Needs - 10 to 12 quilts every month. Toddlers to teens.
NOTE: They appreciate the larger 50” plus quilts with soft backing as the children wrap themselves in our hug during chemo. However, they will take any our guild cares to make. Quilts are sometimes given to traumatized children who are not affected with cancer. e.g. Burn victims.
Western Washington Candlelighters - “Introduction Bags” Children’s Hospital
Children, ages 1-18,
Needs - 10 to 12 quilts a month, any ages.
NOTE: Given to children receiving chemo therapy at Children’s Hospital, Fred Hutchinson and Madigan Hospital. The Candlelighter’s “Bags” include helpful information on a particular child’s cancer and what to expect, pre-paid phone and gas cards, Bucky Pillows and a list of resource/support people for both child and their family. This is an extremely worthy organization.
